About the Debt Management Agency
The Adamawa State Debt Management Agency began as a desk within the Special Projects and Programmes Unit in 2009, became a full department in 2010, and was formally established as a legal entity by the Adamawa State House of Assembly in 2011. The Agency prepares and implements strategies for the efficient management of the State’s debt portfolio at levels compatible with sustainable economic growth.
The Agency’s activities are overseen by the Debt Management Committee, chaired by the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, with the Commissioner of Finance and Budget serving as Vice Chairman. Other members include the Attorney-General, the Commissioner for Local Government, the Chairman of the State Planning Commission, the Accountant-General, and the Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, with the Director-General of the Agency serving as Committee Secretary.

What is the mandate of this Office?
The Agency is statutorily responsible for preparing and implementing strategies for the efficient management of Adamawa State's debt portfolio, and reports to the State House of Assembly.

How is the State's debt managed?
Our processes follow a structured cycle of debt sustainability analysis, borrowing advisory, recording and quarterly reporting, guided by Federal Debt Management Office guidelines.

The Director-General submits periodic debt reports to the Adamawa State House of Assembly and the Federal Debt Management Office.
